Hi! I’m so glad you’re here. My name is Emily Neal and I am a Resident in Counseling under the supervision of Whitney Artutis, LPC. I received my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University and my Bachelor of Science from Virginia Tech. Over the years, I have worked in a variety of settings, including residential treatment, elementary schools providing therapeutic day treatment, in-home counseling with children and families, and crisis stabilization services in both group and individual contexts. These experiences have given me a broad perspective and deep understanding of the challenges people face at different stages of life.
I am passionate about walking alongside clients on their journey toward healing and growth, working with adolescents, teens, and adults experiencing challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and personality disorders. My therapeutic style is collaborative and person-centered, rooted in the belief that every individual deserves to feel heard and valued. I often incorporate creative and experiential approaches—such as art, games, and sand tray—while also drawing from evidence-based practices like CBT and DBT. Techniques such as thought reframing, grounding, and mindfulness are tools I use to help clients build resilience and strengthen coping skills.
I became a therapist because I wanted to support people from all walks of life in feeling less alone and more connected to themselves and others. My desire is to help each client discover their strengths and create a life that feels meaningful and fulfilling.
Outside of my work, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, being in nature, and expressing creativity through drawing and crocheting.
