I am a Resident in Counseling currently working toward LPC licensure under the clinical supervision of Whitney Artutis, LPC. I earned my Master of Education degree from Liberty University and a Bachelor of Science degree from Ferrum College. I also have a post-graduate certificate in Professional Counseling from VCU. I have worked in various roles with children and adults since 2007, including Therapeutic Day Treatment, School Counseling and inpatient mental health settings. Within those different roles, I’ve had the opportunity to work with individuals with a variety of mental health diagnoses, substance use disorders and people who are in crisis. I use a trauma-informed lens along with a combination of different modalities for treatment, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), to provide person-centered therapy to my clients. I also enjoy working with clients who are involved in ketamine or esketamine treatment to assist with processing the thoughts and feelings that often arise during those treatments. I love to incorporate visuals, art, games and other creative techniques into therapy to help clients get the most out of their treatment. I offer in person appointments for adults, teens and children ages 6-12 as well as telehealth options for teens (when appropriate) and adults. In my free time, I enjoy reading, kayaking and spending time with my husband and our dogs.
